Humanitarian/Refugee Assistance Design and Implementation.

Overview

Wars and other violence in various parts of the world have spawned huge refugee problems, making it necessary to design and implement humanitarian programs to deal with the crises. International organizations are often in the vanguard of responsive intervention to assist those uprooted from their homes and forced to live in refugee camps. Governments in some of the nation states affected by the instabilities do embark on programs of their own, however limited as a consequence of inadequate resources. Political, economic, environmental and social crises that fuel refugee movements in search of succor have a global spread. We find instances in Venezuela (The Americas); Ukraine (Europe); Ethiopia (Africa); Myanmar (Southeast
Asia); Micronesian islands lost to rising sea levels as a consequence of climate change; Yemen (the Middle East).
Capacity in humanitarian assistance design and implementation will be continually needed for a very long time, as long as crises are constant and dynamic. The short course is intended to avail learners of the knowledge and skills involved. The trainers are experts in the field with several years of experience.
